The Problem with Traditional Pallet Trading

Traditional pallet trading often relies heavily on relationships, broker networks and closed pricing conversations. That can lead to inconsistent pricing, favouritism, inflated margins and unnecessary time wasted chasing deals that were never realistic in the first place.

If you've been in the industry for any length of time, you'll recognise the pattern: the same buyers and sellers doing deals at prices nobody else gets to see, brokers clipping margins in the middle, and smaller or newer businesses unable to compete on a level footing regardless of what they're offering.

The Pallet Exchange Changes That

Every member on the platform is fully verified before they are allowed to trade — Companies House, VAT registration and bank details, manually reviewed by our team. We know exactly who every business is.

But during the trading process itself, businesses remain anonymous and operate through rotating handle names assigned by the platform. Buyers and sellers never know who they are trading with — and even then, business name and delivery address are only shared once the buyer has paid. Phone numbers and emails are never shared at all; all communication stays in the platform's own messaging.

Why Does That Matter?

Because when identity is removed from the negotiation, the only thing left is the deal itself. No history, no favours owed, no assumption about whether a buyer is worth dealing with based on their company size or reputation in the market.

Every successful transaction — where the goods matched the listing, the logistics were handled properly, and both parties confirmed completion — adds to a member's reputation score. A higher score means:

Underneath the anonymity, every company is still fully vetted by The Pallet Exchange. We know exactly who is trading on the platform. If a member acts in bad faith, we can identify and remove them immediately.

But the market itself — the bidding, the negotiation, the deal-making — remains neutral, fair and performance-driven. Both things are true at once: complete accountability to us, complete anonymity from each other.
